- My apprenticeship was served through the public works department where we were taught the hard way.
- I quickly became a leader with staff workers under my supervision and this is where I learnt about the entire building industry as we had to service all the government buildings throughout the Western Cape.
- I picked up on plumbing – tiling – electrical – bricklaying – plasterworks – painting – ceilings and most importantly roofing / waterproofing and box gutters etc.
